Shoenberger received his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1964, and he is a 1967 graduate of UCLA School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1967.

Prior to entering private practice, Shoenberger was an attorney with the Criminal Division of the California Attorney General's Office. He has extensive experience in a wide range of litigation matters, including those involving: construction disputes, partnership and corporate dissolutions, employment discrimination, general business law and real property matters. He has also devoted more than 30 years of his practice to the area of family law. Shoenberger has handled court and jury trials as well as civil appeals in state and federal courts throughout Southern California.

Shoenberger has also officiated as a Settlement Conference Referee and Superior Court Arbitration Panel member for many years. He is a member of the Riverside County Civil Mediation Panel and serves as a private arbitrator and mediator.

Memberships, Community Involvement and Personal Interests

Shoenberger is a member of the American Bar Association, the Desert Bar Association, the Riverside County Bar Association and Consumer Attorneys of California. He has served as President and Trustee of the Desert Bar Association, and as Judge Pro Tempore for the Riverside County Superior Court.

He is active in municipal government and is a former chairperson and current commissioner of the Palm Springs Planning Commission and the Palm Springs Parks and Recreation Commission. He is a longstanding member of the Palm Springs Rotary Club.

Shoenberger is an avid golfer and has represented a number of the area's private golf clubs in a variety of legal matters. He is a founding member of the Warren Slaughter-Richard Roemer Inn of Court, of which he has been an active participant since its inception.
