Additional Information

Attorney Robert T. Andersen, Jr. has practiced law in Riverside since 1979. He worked with Redwine & Sherrill from 1987 until 2013. In 2013, Andersen Mediations (www.AndersenMediations.com) began and has focused on alternative dispute resolution in Riverside County area. Over the past 15 years, he has conducted hundreds of mediations and arbitrations for the Riverside County Bar Association and the Riverside County Superior Court.

Mr. Andersen is a graduate of McGeorge School of Law (1979). He earned a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from the Talbot School of Theology in 1977. In 1972, he earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also completed his undergraduate degree in Economics and Public Service in 1971 at UCLA. Mr. Andersen has received mediation training from the prestigious Pepperdine University School of Law’s Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution.

Mr. Andersen’s style is to permit the parties to tell their story. He likes win-win situations, and an agreement put together by the parties is almost always better than a judgment. He doesn't mind emotionally-charged matters. Mediations are more likely to resolve the problem while spending less money, time and stress. Mediation can be creative and actually design a solution to the problem, when winning the litigation doesn't always even solve the problem.

Mr. Andersen has taught both Business Law and Church Law at California Baptist University. In 2013, He was Moderator at the State Bar Convention on the MCLE class entitled “Negotiations with Difficult People.” His areas of business experience extend to: eminent domain, the valuation of real property, disputes over real property, and interests in real property, contracts, commercial transactions (including collections and financial questions) and probate issues (including will contests and administration issues). He has public policy and local government background.

Mr. Andersen also has an interest in resolving disputes between churches, congregants and between churches and their congregants—either inside or outside of the church setting. Although he does not mediate legal issues in divorce proceedings, he enjoys helping partners reconnect in marriage and avoiding divorce.
